On October 6, 2025, with the support of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and in collaboration with the Public Organization “Aga Khan Foundation in Tajikistan,” training courses on Bathymetry and Modeling began in the conference hall of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower, and Ecology.
As part of this course, a team of specialists from the Aga Khan Foundation in Tajikistan will conduct a training program for 11 employees and specialists from various institutes and centers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, including 8 staff members from the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower, and Ecology.
The training program covers the following topics:
• Introductory lectures on the basics of bathymetry, safety rules, and familiarization with bathymetric equipment;
• Fieldwork at Chukurkul, including depth measurements and lake contouring using GPS and hydrophones;
• Practical sessions with Reef Master, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and Flo-2D software for data processing, bathymetric mapping, water volume calculation, and flood modeling;
• Development of final maps showing accuracy, flow velocity, and flood risk zones.
It is worth noting that the training program will continue from October 6 to 10 of this year at the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower, and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
