The Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan in accordance with the international agreements cooperates with the National University of Kazakhstan named after Forobi, the Institute of Geography of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Scientific Center of Tien-Shan Highlands under IWPH AN RK, the Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Reclamation Engineers in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), the State University of Southern Ural (Russia), "Azerkosmos" LLC of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and with several other organizations. 

    For example, research works in the sphere of bilateral cooperation with All-Russian Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation named after A.N.Kostyakov are continued. A.N. Kostyakov All-Russian Research Institute of Hydrotechnics and Land Reclamation. Also, on the basis of an agreement on information exchange, work with the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and the German Research Center Juelich GmbH, and the Department of Safety and Radiation Protection continue.

   Collaboration has also begun with the Frank Laboratory for Neutron Physics of the Joint Research Institute (Dubna, Russia)

   Agreements have been signed with the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture for Central Asia and Caucasus at ICARDA and the Tashkent office and research activities are ongoing on the basis of these agreements.

   In November 2021, the Institute concluded agreements on cooperation with two more scientific organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These are the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIMSH) and the Research Institute of Irrigation and Water Problems of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NIIWP MVH RUz). At the moment, joint research works have been started.
