Study of spatial and temporal variations of air temperature and precipitation in the Pamir Mountains is important not only for developing regional scenarios of future climate changes, but also for solving a number of practical tasks related to rational regulation and use of agroclimatic and hydrological resources. Since the economic development of Tajikistan is directly related to water resources, it is no less important to study the dynamics of river flow, which is the main source of water resources, for their effective distribution. The main source of water reserves of almost all rivers of the country, including the Panj River, are glaciers. The volumes of water reserves directly depend on the thermodynamic state of its sources, on the degree of glaciation of the area and meteorological values. The available climatological data of longer term allow forecasting the further course of climate change in the region as a whole.

The study of changes in air temperature and atmospheric precipitation is one of the most urgent tasks of modern science in general. Its influence on human activity and the environment can manifest itself both positively and negatively. Of particular relevance in this connection is the study of the regularities of periodic changes in regional climatic conditions - air temperature and precipitation against the background of global warming, since long-term unidirectional changes in these components of climatic conditions can lead to serious shifts in the landscape boundaries of territories.
