Breaking News

On March 20-21, a significant scientific and practical conference was held in Tajikistan, co-organized with the Agency for Hydrometeorology under the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event focused on pressing issues related to the preservation of glaciers and their impact on the country’s sustainable development.
The conference was part of the preparations for the International Year of Glacier Preservation in 2025 and coincided with International Glacier Preservation Day, observed on March 21. Participants, including scientists, environmental activists, representatives of government institutions, and international experts, discussed the state of Tajikistan’s glaciers, their importance for water resources and ecosystems, and solutions to address challenges associated with their degradation.
During the conference, the latest scientific research findings and practical recommendations for glacier conservation were presented. Participants emphasized that preserving glaciers is a priority task directly linked to ensuring the country’s water, food, energy, and environmental security.
"Glaciers are not only natural treasures but also vital resources for our population. Their protection and preservation are our shared responsibility," noted one of the conference speakers.
The conference served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and ideas, as well as fostering partnerships among various organizations and stakeholders working in the fields of environmental protection and sustainable development.
We are confident that collective efforts will not only help preserve Tajikistan’s glaciers but also mitigate the effects of climate change, securing a sustainable future for our people and nature.
