Cooperation on field sampling of annual rings of trees in Tajikistan

  From August 20 to 27, 2024, representatives of the Institute of Metrology and Desert of the Chinese Metrological Administration Ruibo Zhang, Shulong Yu, Dong Guo together with the staff of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Rakhimov Ilkhomiddin and Akhsanjon Akhmadov conducted field sampling of annual rings of trees in Tajikistan.

  The purpose of sampling was to search for millennial cypress trees to reconstruct climatic changes in Tajikistan over the last millennium, and to collect cypress samples at different altitudes to study gradient differences in the response of annual rings to climate.
  The resulting samples will be analyzed in the laboratory of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology at NAST.
  This field study is supported by China's Natural Key Research and Development Program (2023YFE0102700).
